Italo Limited – Cookies Policy
Last Updated: 25/08/2026
This Cookies Policy explains how Italo Limited ("Italo," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website www.lrnd.ai, our web app app.lrnd.ai. This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information, you can access it here: Privacy Policy.
1. What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the website owners.
Cookies can be either:
- Session Cookies: These are temporary cookies that are erased when you close your browser.
- Persistent Cookies: These cookies remain on your device for a set period of time, or until you manually delete them.
Cookies can also be categorized by who sets them:
- First-Party Cookies: These cookies are set by the website you are visiting directly.
- Third-Party Cookies: These cookies are set by a different domain than the one you are visiting.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for various purposes, including:
- Strictly Necessary Cookies: These cookies are essential for the operation of our website. They enable you to navigate the site and use its features, such as accessing secure areas or logging into your account. These cookies do not require your consent and will always be placed on your device.
- Performance/Analytics Cookies: These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us understand which pages are most popular, and how users navigate the website. This helps us to improve the user experience. Much of this data is reported in aggregate, but not all of it is: analytics events and session replays are associated with a device identifier, and once you sign in they are associated with your account.
- Session Replay and Heatmap Cookies: With your separate, explicit consent we record the interactions you have with a page — clicks, scrolls, page changes and the structure of the page — so we can rebuild a replay of how the page was used and produce heatmaps of where visitors click. A session replay is a reconstruction of the page from those recorded changes; it is not a video recording of your screen, and we do not record your camera, microphone or any other application. Text on the page and anything you type into a form are masked before the recording leaves your browser, and images, video, audio and private areas of the product are blocked entirely. We do not record console output, network requests, or the contents of your learning material. This is off unless you actively turn it on, and you can withdraw it at any time from "Cookie settings" in the website footer or the app menu — recording stops immediately when you do.
- Functionality Cookies: These cookies enable the website to remember choices you make (such as your username, language, or region) and provide enhanced, more personal features.
- Targeting/Advertising Cookies: These cookies are used to deliver advertisements more relevant to you and your interests. They may also be used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. These cookies are usually placed by third-party advertising networks. We will only place this type of cookies if you have actively opted-in.
3. Cookies We Use
Below is a list of the specific categories of cookies and related technologies we use on our website:
| Cookie Name | Category | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| lrnd.ai | Strictly Necessary | Enables secure browsing and site functionality. | Session/Persistent | Italo Limited |
| heap.io | Performance/Analytics | Tracks website visits and traffic to improve performance. | Persistent | Heap Inc. |
| mp_* (Mixpanel) | Performance/Analytics | Recognises your device across lrnd.ai so product analytics events can be joined into one visit, and into your account once you sign in. | Persistent (1 year) | Mixpanel, Inc. (EU data residency) |
| lrnd_cookie_consent | Strictly Necessary | Records your analytics cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. | Persistent (1 year) | Italo Limited |
| lrnd_session_replay_consent_v1 | Strictly Necessary | Records your separate session replay choice. Session replay stays off until this says you have accepted it. | Persistent (1 year) | Italo Limited |
| auth0.com | Strictly Necessary | Used by Auth0 for authentication and maintaining user sessions. | Session | Okta Inc. |
Session replay and heatmap data is collected through the Mixpanel cookies listed above; no additional cookie is set for it. Replay recordings and analytics events are processed by Mixpanel in the EU.
4. Third-Party Cookies
We may allow certain third-party service providers to set cookies on our website. These third parties may collect information about your browsing activity for their own purposes, consistent with their privacy policies. We only allow a third party to place a cookie if you have actively opted-in. We encourage you to review the privacy and cookie policies of these third-party providers. We also use Auth0, a third party provider for user authentication. Auth0 may place cookies on your device to allow us to provide you with authentication services. For more information on Auth0's privacy practices, please see their Privacy Policy at https://auth0.com/privacy/.
Examples:
- Mixpanel: For product analytics and, with your separate consent, masked session replay and heatmaps. Mixpanel processes this data on our behalf in the European Union.
- Google Analytics: For website analytics purposes.
- Social Media Plugins: If you interact with social media share buttons.
5. How to Control Cookies
The quickest way to change your choice is Cookie settings, in the footer of every page on our website and in the account menu of our app. It reopens the consent panel, where analytics and session replay are separate choices you can accept or refuse independently. Refusing session replay stops any recording in progress straight away; it does not wait for the cookie to expire or for you to sign out. Your choice is shared across lrnd.ai, app.lrnd.ai and our sign-in pages.
You can also control how cookies are used on our website by adjusting your browser settings. Most web browsers allow you to:
- View: See what cookies are stored on your device.
- Block: Block all or certain types of cookies.
- Delete: Delete individual cookies or all cookies.
- Set Preferences: Configure how cookies are used on websites in the future.
